After several years of pandemic-related pause, La French Tech Shanghai made a powerful return to the scene on June 26th with its flagship event: Tech for Good, Tech for Impact. More than a simple gathering, this event was a statement of purpose is to reconnect, to inspire, and to elevate the role of technology in driving positive societal change.
Conceived by the community and executed entirely by volunteers, the event embodied the collaborative DNA of La French Tech. The goal was clear: to bring together the city’s growing impact ecosystem and provide real visibility to French and international startups aligned with the mission of creating technology that serves both people and the planet.

A Snapshot of the Day
The turnout exceeded expectations. Out of 349 registered guests, 208 attended a mix that spanned 9% investors, 20% large corporates, 24% mid-size companies and scaleups, 30% startups, and 17% others. The diversity of profiles created a unique cross-section of the ecosystem, enabling conversations that ranged from early-stage innovation to global deployment.
The event mobilized:
- 30 volunteers
- 27 speakers and panelists
- 20 exhibiting companies
All gathered under one roof despite a sweltering 36°C Shanghai summer day, accompanied by 80% humidity, a reminder that creating change often requires enduring discomfort.
More Than Just Metrics
Beyond the numbers, the qualitative outcomes were equally significant.
Sixteen startups and scaleups from La French Tech Shanghai were given a platform to showcase their expertise. The panels and keynotes sparked open conversations around the role of sustainability, digital inclusion, and innovation for the greater good. Throughout the day, promising leads were generated with potential clients and investors, an encouraging sign for what may translate into tangible partnerships in the months ahead.

Perhaps the most memorable element, however, was the energy in the room: founders, thinkers, and changemakers exchanging ideas with urgency and optimism. It was a rare convergence of intent and execution, all under the banner of impact.
A New Standard for Sustainable Events
Attendees were quick to notice that sustainability wasn’t just discussed — it was embedded in the event’s design. From cardboard booths and reusable containers to sustainable giveaways (or no giveaways at all), every decision was made with waste reduction in mind.
One attendee summarized it this way: “Every detail aimed to cut waste, not quality.” Another shared: “This was the best La French Tech Shanghai event I’ve attended in the last five years.”
This attention to detail helped position the event as more than a showcase — it was a prototype for what responsible tech events can and should look like.
